Jennifer Margery

Attended Central Hawkes Bay College, then Lincoln University. Graduated B Hort Sci., Lincoln University and Diploma in Teaching (Secondary) Christchurch Teachers College. Taught horticulture for 8 years, then transitioned to teaching, learning skills and academic writing at Christchurch Polytechnic and then Lincoln University.

In 1999 she and husband, Ken established a specialist mail order herb nursery which they ran for 18 years.

Jennifer now tends a half-acre herb and vegetable garden in Oxford, Canterbury, where she lives with her husband Ken. They have one son at University. Since 2003 she has written the herb column for New Zealand Lifestyle Block magazine (formerly Growing Today).

Attended Central Hawkes Bay College and Fairfield College, Hamilton. Graduated BSocSc. in Geography and History (Hons) Waikato University.

Margery trained as a counsellor and then as a teacher in 2000 and is now Principal at Waitetuna Primary School. She has four adult children, Ezra, Josiah, Janet, and Arden, two cats and a busy family life.

Margery has always painted but took it up more seriously to help balance her busy teaching life.

“Painting renews my energy and at the same time I get to do something I love.”

In her spare time Margery enjoys walking on the beach, yoga, tramping and a good read.
